Key activities

Acquisition and administration of life-insurance and pension books, investment management, policy servicing, protection products and selective new business through established insurance subsidiaries.

03

Key markets

The United Kingdom, Sweden and the Netherlands are the principal markets. Customers are mainly long-term savings, pension and protection policyholders.

04

Key drivers

Successful acquisitions, cash generation from existing policy books, solvency strength, investment-market performance, efficient policy administration, new business in selected markets and delivery of integration synergies.

05

Key risks

Market and interest-rate movements, insurance and longevity assumptions, regulatory capital requirements, acquisition integration, operational administration risk, policyholder lapses and dependence on continued access to attractive consolidation opportunities.

2026 has been an active acquisition year. Chesnara completed the purchase of HSBC Life UK in January and in February agreed to acquire Scottish Widows Europe, a transaction expected to complete around the end of 2026 subject to approvals.
