Company summary

Shell is one of the world's largest integrated energy companies, with operations spanning oil, natural gas, LNG, refining, chemicals, trading and selected low-carbon energy businesses. Its cash flow is strongly influenced by commodity prices and global energy-market conditions.

02

Key activities

Oil and gas production, LNG, energy trading, refining, chemicals, fuel retail, lubricants, power and selected renewable and low-carbon investments.

03

Key markets

Global energy markets, with major upstream and LNG positions in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific.

04

Key drivers

Oil and gas prices, LNG volumes and margins, trading performance, refining margins, production growth, capital discipline and share buybacks.

05

Key risks

Commodity-price volatility, geopolitical disruption, project execution, environmental liabilities, taxes and regulation, energy-transition policy and major operational incidents.

06

Recent Developments

30 July 2026: Shell maintained strong shareholder distributions after a volatile first half, supported by robust LNG and trading performance. Middle East disruption has boosted energy-market volatility but also affected regional operations, so LNG availability, commodity prices, buybacks and capital discipline remain central through 2027.

07

Dividend notes

Shell pays quarterly in US dollars and combines dividends with large share buybacks. The Q2 2026 dividend is 39.06 US cents per ordinary share, ex-dividend 13 August 2026 and payable 21 September; sterling and euro equivalents are set shortly before payment.
